Can I Apply Soframycin Over The Black Scar On Face Post Injury?

Hi Dr! About 40 days ago I had bruised my skin over right cheek while shaving beard. In fact I sliced it down. Since I was out of town and I had nothing in hand so I just applied Boroplus over the cut. After applying it for almost 15 days I just gor skin layer there but unfortunately it left dark black scar mark there. SIt s quiet large and looks ugly. From last 25 days I am applying Aloe Vera juice by splitting the leaves of Aloe Vera and rubbing it over the affected part but the improvement is really not significant and is not satisfactory. Please help. Can I apply Soframycin over the scar? Will that help?

I am quite empathetic to the black scar on face post injury on you cheek.

As it has been 25 days since injury so applying soframycin will not help in this case. Soframycin contains framycetin in it which is an antibiotic cream and helps in reducing and treating the infection.

The present problem is basically "Post inflammatory hyper-pigemention" after teh injury. This is due to more activity of color producing cells called as melanocytes.

I suggest you to do strict sun protection and apply a broad spectrum sunscreen over the affected area. A skin lightening cream such as kojic acid help in reducing the mark.

Take guidance from your dermatologist regarding the application of cream. DO not apply anything else as can cause more pigmentation.
