Can Hypothyroidism And Preeclampsia Be Interrelated In A Pregnancy?
I am 22 weeks pregnant and at my last prenatal visit my blood pressure was high at 140/90 and I had trace protein in my urine. My midwife just called and said my TSH was 8.59. I have hypothyroidism in my family. I was wondering there is a connection between hypothyroidism and preeclampsia?
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Hypothyroidism is known to increase the risk of pre eclampsia in a pregnant woman. Women having hypothyroidism are at high risk of pre eclampsia and should be monitored closely for increased blood pressure You should get treatment both for hypothyroidism and pre eclampsia timely to avoid any complication.
