Can Hypothyroid Cause Irregular Periods?

Hi I am a 19year old female. I am 5ft 2in 110lbs. I am always fatigued. I haven t had a period for around 8 months now. I went to my GYN and she ran lots of blood tests. She also gave me provera to trigger my period but i still did not have one. Several of the blood tests came back very abnormal. I have a history of blood clots in the family (DVT, PE, Death). The bloods tests showed I have multiple thrombophillias (AT III def, Antiphospholipids AB+, Low protein S, + Lupus anticoag.) My lab numbers were either EXTREMELY low or high. my numbers for my thyroid were also slight off. My motor has hypothyroid disorder. I am having those tests redone bc they were borderline. Is it normal for someone to have four blood disorders? what is the treatment for this? should i be concerned? also would this cause me not to have periods? would this cause extreme fatigue? thanks.

Hi dear
i have gonne through your question.

I think that your symptoms (fatigue and absent periods) are attributed to your hypothyroidism.I suggest to talk with your doctor about the results of the last thyroid tests (TSH,free T3 and FreeT4)because maybe you need thyroid replacement therapy to stabilise a euthyroid state. After that i think your symptoms will disappear and your periods will return to normality.

Thrombophilia is a condition where the blood has an increased tendency to form clots. You have a family history of thrombosis and a Antithrombin deficiency ,so i think you have a hereditary condition. My advice is to talk with your doctor about the possible prophylaxis and treatement.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
Wish you good health.
