Can Hydrocodone Cause Night Sweats?

My mother-in-law (91) has been taking H ydrocodone 10-325 T twice a day for a sharp pain in her head that developed when she had shingles 3 yrs ago. Now she is having nightsweats and sleeplessness. I have tried to get her off this and try tylenol ect but she says the pain is too severe. Will this drug cause nightsweats?

Greetings !

Welcome to the site.

Well the answer to your question is No, hydrocodone is not usually associated with night sweats and sleeplessness per say but it is often associated with anxiety and anxiety can in turn lead to both of these symptoms such as night sweats and sleeplessness, so perhaps hydrocodone is indirectly causing these problems. So i reckon that you first try to get your mother in law's dose of hydrocodone adjusted and if that does not work out then she may be tried on a drug called as Flunarizine at dose of 10 mg once a day in place of hydrocodone to deal with her headache.

I hope this helps.

Regards
