Welcome to HCM,
I can tell you right away that the triglycerides are now high enough to induce pancreatitis and he needs to be on pancreatic enzymes along with a high dose of Omega 3 fatty acids.

The triglycerides are high solely due to his alcohol intake and I suspect there is liver involvement as well. To reduce the triglycerides, stop drinking.

No, homeopathy is not the solution to this problem, addiction counseling may help if elimination of the alcohol is a challenge. He will also need B complex, particularly thiamin,to help replete nutrients drained by the alcohol consumption.

The overall diet for high cholesterol is low saturated fat, zero trans fats, weight loss if overweight, a gradual increase in fiber (water soluble fiber lowers fats, cholesterol, glucose and is found in oats, oat cereal, psyllium supplement, legumes), restriction of fruit sugars if triglycerides high including high fructose corn syrup and juices, elimination of alcohol, and an increase in exercise targeting duration, intensity and frequency.

All of these areas can be covered with a personal visit with a Dietitian who can work with you two as a couple to individualize a meal plan to fit into your lifestyle and one which you can live with on a long term basis.

I hope this has provided some guidance. Kathryn Shattler, MS,RDN
