Can Hip Pain In The Back Be Due To Bursitis?

For several weeks I ve been feeling broad hip pain across my backside. My Primary Care Physician seems to think it might be bursitis, which he d diagnosed once before when I felt hip pain on one side, the side I sleep on. But this is broader and seems to extend down my thighs on both sides, and feels something like sciatica I once had a sever case of for a month, but only on one side. What s your guess? (I also sit a lot at the computer, and do yoga, but can hardly stretch my legs out in front of me on the mat anymore. I sleep on one side in a semi-fetal position, not as directly as I used to on one hip, the one that might ve had bursitis?— but now more partially on my stomach.) I am now 78 years old. Any guesses from these observations?

Hii ,

Welcome To HCM & Thanks For Asking Your Query Here

Obviously your pain can be caused by bursitis and at your age it is quit common , but there are possibility of other problems including spinal and neurological conditions like at this age many a time spinal vertebrae or inter vertebral disc in your lower spine may degenerate and cause pressure on nerve root which may also leads to these kind of pain

apart from this we can not deny the possibility of other rare conditions like bone Tuberculosis and it needs thorough medical check up and investigations to spot a confirm diagnosis

most of these pain can be well controlled by medications and rest along with physiotherapy as per your doctor suggest so i would strongly advise you to see a Neuro spine surgeon , he may go for an MRI of Lower spine and Hip joints to rule out any underlying medical condition

I hope it help
