Can High Readings Of Potassium, Calcium Or Vitamin D Have Serious Side Effects In A 85 Yr Old?

My 85 year old father has high readings of potassium, serum 5.5 mmol/l calcium, serum 10.6 mg/dl vitamin D 25-hydroxy 121.0 ng/ml The doctor has him on a lot of supplements - bone up, centrum sliver, D3 - 50 weekly, etc I asked about the high levels and dr said can t ever be too high for calcium but the articles I m reading and gut instinct says too much has side effects & consequences too just like too little. What do you think?

Hello

I have studied your case

Yes excess vit D has side effects.
You need to stop taking them for few months

You can take diet rich in calcium and vitamin D.

Excess vit D causes nausea, giddiness disorientation.
For potassium correction you need to consult your doctor.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Take care.
