Can Hiatal Hernia Repair And Removal Of Gallbladder Be Done Together?

Can a hiatal hernia repair and removal of gallbladder be done at the same time? I am 39 years old and have gallbladder stones. I am scheduled to have my gallbladder removed, however, I also have a hiatal hernia that also needs to be repaired. I was wondering if these procedures could be done at the same time.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Dear patient,

Yes, they can be done at the same time, unless removal of gallblader will be done by laparoscopy and not open surgery, because hiatal hernia repair needs open surgery.

Hope my answer was helpful!

Good luck!
