Can Giving Ofloxacin Be Safe For Ruptured Eardrum To Infants?

HI my son has ruptured his eardrum with the insane stick. Doctor has prescribed ofloxacin antibiotic ear drops for 7 days. I have to see him after 2 weeks. My concerns is in this case my son would have any hearing loss? Right now he is okay. He does not have any serious problem which occurs during ear infection. Also, he did not have any bleeding that time. It is tiny whole. will it be repaired by itself?

Hi Dear ,

As per your query your son has got his ear ruptured with a stick , doctor has prescribed ofloxacin and there is not symptom like bleeding . Well it seems to me that there is no actual rupture its just an injury , which will heal in few days and your doctor has prescribed right medicine . Continue using ear drops as sometimes infection occur on wound and keep your ear dry . If condition doesn't get well or there will be a pain or any kind of discharge then consult ENT specialist again for proer checkup . Doctor may prescribe stronger antibiotics along with anti inflammatory or recommend patching or minor surgery .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
