Can Formaldehyde Poisoning Cause Sinus Congestion?
Last October we purchased an inexpensive second desk for our home office from Office Depot. It was built in China. After putting it together I noticed a strong smell coming from it. My eyes started watering and my nose started itching. Ever since then I have had chronic cough, runny nose and itchy eyes, especially when I am sitting at the desk. My husband who sits in the same room is also suffering from sinus congestion. Could this be formaldehye poisoning and if it is could this lead to continuous health issues like cancer since I have a lot of chemical and food sensitivities and a heart valve replacement?
in my opinion this kind of chemical causing fumes leads to irritation in mucosa I.e. burning in eyes, rhinorrhea. irritation leads to mucosal inflammation and swelling. which finally causes sinus Ostia blockage which prevents physiological clearing of secretion. and that is called sinus congestion. so YES it can lead to sinus congestion. yes its continue use may be carcinogenic. better to avoid is continuously.
