Hi, 6 hours ago I was eating an apple and swallowed a piece, perhaps 3/4 of an inch think. The piece felt stuck in my esophagus. I tried drinking water but that did not help. I also just ate a meal and the sensation of the stuck apple piece remains in the same place in my throat. So I can swallow water/foods just fine, but the feeling is there. Is it possible the apple piece is still stuck there despite foods (including bread) being swallowed without problem? Thank you
Once you are able to swallow water and other good, without difficulty, Its unlikely that the apple is still stuck in there. That being said, sometimes when you swallow a large bite, the good like stretches and allows it, sometimes causing the sensation of pain for a few hours.Other possible but extremely rare causes are a narrow oesophagus or a diverticula. Consult an ENT or a gastro enterologist , if the symptom does not improve in about a day.
