Can Food Poison Cause Feet And Hand Swelling, Extreme Palpitation In Heart?

Hello, I went out to dinner last night and immediately tasted old tasting oil. After eating half ,my meal me Y feet & hands swelled and my husband which ate same ask for Tums. He can eat anything. I started getting a very upset stomach and then lost my dinner om top of continued swelling. My heart went into extreme palpitations which you could see as far up as my neck beating and the pillows behind me were moving. I didn t have it in me to go to ER! Today I have been coughing for no reason and heart keeps trying to skip. I did call restaurant so no others would get sick. Can food poisoning cause this. Thank you for your time!

Thank you for the query.

Your symptoms fit more to allergic reaction. Hands and feet swelling, cough, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea are typical symptoms of such reaction. You may also notice some skin changes (redness), breathing problems, mouth swelling.
Accelerated heart rate can be a reaction to blood pressure drop, or due to stress.
Fever, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and stomach ache are more characteristic symptoms of food poisoning.

I suggest you to consult your doctor and consider food allergy. Some allergic tests might be necessary.
