Can Eye Redness Along With Soreness Be Treated With Eye Drops?

13 year old boy has what seems to be a mild cold. The left lower quadrant of his eyeball is red but is not experiencing itchiness. However, the area around the end of his eyebrow, and to the left of is eye is a little sore. He doesn t remember hurting himself. We can t figure out why it is red. Should we treat this with eyedrops? I have Zaditor for my allergies, and just plain eyedrops (neither of which I have yet to open).

Hello,

If the eyes are not hurting and there is no watering and there is no generalised redness and there is no history of any trauma, then you may watch for a day or two. Use a cold compress over the eye, or cotton soaked in cold water can be kept on the closed eye lids for few minutes. You may also use anti-allergic eye drops too.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
