Can Diarrhea Be A Side Effect Of Taking Benecol Drinks For Diverticulitis?

I have been diagnosed with Diverticulitis and it has been quite painful on a few occasions. I have recently starting the Benecol drinks (taken 2) due to raised lipids (5.05) and am suffering more diahorea than usual. Is this caused by the Benecol and should I stop it?

Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Divericulitis itself can give diarrhea as a symptom. So it does not have to be benecol, just a symptom of another inflammation. You should have it checked.
Benecol can of course also cause diarrhea as well. You can try to do not drink it for few days and see if the diarrhea subsides.
Please also note that if you have recurring diverticulitis, surgery needs to be concerned. Its because sooner or later with diverticles inflammation perforation can appear.

Hope this will help.
Regards.
