Can Dettol Cause Pain After A Cut?

I noticed some blood on my skin, not sure whether HIV positive or not , and applied dettol to wash it away but soon after doing that there was pain on the skin. Could it mean that dettol created some cuts or openings on my skin to facilitate infection ?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Dettol is an antiseptic and it acts by inhibiting the growth of infectious bacteria on skin.
Application of dettol may be associated with burning sensation, however, it does not cause any fresh cuts on skin.
It does not facilitate infection but when it inhibits infection.
However, the desired action of antiseptic is only present when it is kept in proper condition and it looses its action when it is expired or not kept in proper condition.

Thanks and take care
