Can Dental Surgery Be Done After A Normal Lipid Profile Test?

Dentist suggested my father to remove one tooth by surgery. But my father went through heart bypass surgery some 3 years back. Dentist is asking for a clearance certificate from the cardilogist. The cardiologist suggested a lipid profile test which is normal. Now, can he go for the dental surgery?

Thanks for using Health Care Magic.

Read your query.

Yes ,he can undergo the tooth extraction procedure if the cardiologist has given a clearance certificate based on the current health position of your father.
Keep the dentist updated with all the procedure and medication your father is taking before the procedure for the dentist can enough measure for a easy extraction.

Hope this was useful.
Thanks and regards

Dentist Dr. Lizabeth Sloane's  Response
Hello,
From your description, the cardiologist should now be able to give clearance if this was the only test required and the result is normal.
Your dentist wants to make sure that your father is stable and not at high risk. Blood pressure will need to be in an acceptable range. Some cardiac surgeries require a patient to Pre-medicate with an antibiotic pror to dental treatment. Your dentist is being very thorough to plan for a successful surgery and recovery. Keep the lines of communication open and ask questions to the cardiologist and dentist if you have any concerns. Address the question of any possible complications. Your father most likely has an infected tooth and infection from oral problems need treatment to protect the heart as well.
Thank you for your inquiry. I hope your father is able to complete treatment soon.
