Can Cytotec Harm The Fetus During Pregnancy?

hi doctor I'm 33 years old women and I'm pregnant for 5 weeks, i decided to abort the baby so i took one tablet of "cytotec" but suddenlyi felt guilty and wanted to keep my pregnancy, does this one tablet effect the normality of my baby, plz answer me.

Hi,
The absolute risk of congenital malformations after use of Misoprostol is around one percent. The drug is a teratogen. So, it is up to your discretion and the opinion of your consultant whether to continue with this pregnancy or not. If you wish to continue very badly, you may need to have prenatal confirmatory tests to rule out congenital malformations. These include blood tests, serial sonograms, chorionic villus sampling and amniocentesis in order of frequency. Hope this helps.
