Can 'cortisone' Reactivate Hepatitis-C Virus?

Hi , I am done with my hcv treatment 6 month ago and my blood test for the virus came negative but now I have body rash and my doctor gave me cortisone tablets to take 2 in the morning and 2 at night every friday but after that i heared that cortisone could reactivate virus c ,is this correct or not,please answer?

Thank you for posting query at HCM.

noted that you have complete resolution from HCV infection after treatment.
At present, your treating physician prescribed steroids.
he maybe NOT knowing your HCV history.

exogenous steroids decrease immunity and may cause reactivation of HCV infection.
i advice you to take a second opinion from your treating hepatologist.
though low dose steroid may not increase HCV RNA titer but its better to avoid taking steroids .

you may take anti histamine medication to counter the rash,
hope to answer your concern.
