Can Contamination Of Sample Cause Elevated Microalbumin Level?
hello, my son is diabetic type 1 and had his first microalbumin test. it got elevated, but his doctor thinks it's beacuse his sample could have benn contaminated. Is that possible and how? His A1C have been all within target-less than 8.0-average 7.5-7.6-.
If this becomes positive, is this a condition that can be improved?
Dear madam i can understand your concern. As your doctor rightly said the sample when contaminated by bacteria will reflect as the presence of protein. There is nothing to fear about this problem. good diabetes control can prevent this kind of problem. there are medication like ACE and ARB available to reverse this problem. kindly discuss with treating doctor. Hope I was able to help you. If you have any further question feel free to write me back. I will be happy to help. Take care. Best Regards. Dr Vamsi Krishna Consultant Diabetologist Apollo Hospitals
