Can Constant Pain In Stomach And Back, vomiting And Nausea Be Caused By Mirena Iud?

I recently had the mirena iud inserted 4 days ago. Since then i have been in constant pain in my stomach and back, unable to keep any food down, swollen stomach and pubic area, i have gained 7 lbs and barely ate due to the vomiting and diarrhea. Could this be from my mirena? Should i get it removed?

Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Mirena contains progesterone which has the side effects of nausea and vomiting, but the vomiting is not excessive so as to lead to weight loss. Lower abdominal pain and back pain can occur because of mirena as it can cause pelvic inflammatory disease.
I would suggest you to consult your doctor and appropriately examined, investigated and treated accordingly.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
Wishing you good health.
