Hi, I am 41 years old and I had an abnormal pap. Today I had my colposcopy but couldn t do the procedure due to my cervix being closed. She couldn t find anything on the outside. So now I have to get it done in a hospital. I am worried. The dr. Mention that they would have to nome the cervix but I heard that is just as painful as doing it without nome in the area. I would rather be asleep during the procedure. What Are my chances.?
Hi dear, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Colposcopy is painful if there is vaginal infection or cervical stenosis. You can get the colposcopy done under anaesthesia, either sedation or general anaesthesia. Hope you found the answer helpful. Regards Dr Deepti Verma OBGYN
