Can Cholesterol Be Controlled By Diet And Exercise?

I Had a blood test recently at the Mercy clinic. I am worried that my Creatubube score was 1.06 My GFR was 52 My Lipid panel for Cholesterol was 217 abd my HDL was 89 ans my LDL Calculated was 117. I weigh 207. My doctor suggest I start taking Simvastain for three months and report back to her. I already take blood pressure pills. I do not want to take any more medicine. I have started working on my health by watching my diet, exercise. Do you feel that will work. I am 63 years old.

Hi welcome to HCM.
In presence of coexistent heart disease,it is always safe to take simvastain for accurate control of blood lipids. This should be supplemented with regular physical exercise for 20min/day.Total calorie intake has to be below 2100kcal/day.Maintain BMI below 21.5.Regular monitoring of blood lipids is needed on semiannual basis.A screening echo is advisable.Consult your cardiologist for further queries.
THANK YOU
