Can Cerebral Palsy Be Helped With Stem Cell Therapy?
Respected sir,
My son is suffering with celebral plasy since his childhood. Ofcourse he is in fourth standard and and can't walk . I am doing physotherpy daily two times. But his conition is still the same. Through some one I came to know that stem cell therpy helps such type of children. Is it true . Please give me the answer.
Dear Parent, I understand you are very concerned about your child's cure. Though stem cell therapy for cerebral palsy is being studied in various centres across the world, the results of these clinical trials are yet to come. This mode of treatment is still largely at a research level. Some centres do provide stem cell therapy for CP but results are not scientifically proven. So I would suggest not to jump for a 'miracle treatment' which is still debatable. Rather, it is better for you to meticulously follow up with your physiotherapy and occupational therapy sessions and also consult your Developmental Paediatrician or Neurologist. These sessions will gradually train the child's dormant brain cells to wake up and function. You will get positive results, though slowly; dont lose hope.
