Can Brain Damage Occur When The Heart Stopped For 7 Minutes?

my mother is 79 years of age she has alot going on diabetis, congestive heart failer, renal failiar, and she goes to dialisis she recently suffer a mild attack. she went into cardiac arrest while in the hospital. her heart rate ent up during dialisis cauesed her to go into cardiac arrest. it took 7 minutes to get a pulse is she going to suffer brain damage right now she has a breathing tube breathing for her and she on many medications. what can you tell me. i need all the feedback i can get.

I read through your question and understood your concern.There are very less chances for your mom to incur any brain damage.
Usually in hospitals during a cardiac arrest constant oxygen supply is provided through the tubes that they put into the windpipe through the mouth.

and cardiac massage( c.p.r) is constantly performed to keep the blood circulating,till the heart revives.

So as the attack occured in the hospital the chances of brain damage are quite minimal.

there are a few circumstances where

-a clot from the heart may dislodge during cardiac massage and cause clot in the brain or else where,
-electrolyte imbalances

in the above circumstances there is a risk of brain damage, but they are not so common.
