Can Being Anemic Cause Tiredness And Muscle Weakness?

I'm anemic, the doc said it's at 5,000 something per something..and I need to get it to 13. i've been taking iron pills for 2 weeks. Now, I'm feeling very tired, soemtimes out of breath, is this a symptom? Will anemia cause muscle weakness, aching intermittently?Oh and my cycle just arrived 3 days ago. I'm 32/female

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, Welcome to Health care magic forum.
As you describe, the symptoms are due to the gastric irritation due to the iron pills, they are very irritant and many get the irritation.
The anemia is also may be due to the worms in the intestines, excess bleeding, malnutrition.
I advise you to stop the pills, and consult your doctor to have a injection form.
Ii usually prescribe to my patient with such symptoms albendazole, iron injection periodically, and protein suppliments, omeprazole, and domperidone.
Wishing for a quick and complete recovery. Thank you.
