Can Baby Aspirin Be Taken Before Thyroid Biopsy?

I had a low grade fever the middle of the PM, Tues, I took one Bayer aspirin which has seemingly helped. I have a thyroid biopsy scheduled for Fri AM at 9AM. I was told not to take aspirin for 3-5 days, and I have only been taking a baby aspirin 81 mg daily. However, I took one regular Bayer. My Dr.had said and he is a Ear, nose, and throat specialist that the taking of aspirin doesn t worry him any. However these orders were from the hospital lab. Do you think they will continue or have me reschedule for another time? Also, will I be safe and have bleeding? Thanks for your assistance. James

Endocrinologist 's  Response
Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

I have gone carefully through your concern.

The thyroid biopsy is just like a muscular injection.
Is used the same syringe and the risk of bleeding is very low.

When it happens is well controlled.
It may be manifested with subcutaneous hematoma which disappears within a few days.

Aspirin is not a risk factor in these cases and the procedure is not postponed.

Hope the information will help.

Kind regards,
Dr.Mirjeta
