Can Anyone Help Understand The Reports Attached Therein?
Husband went to the doctor after years of back pain and right rib and let pain. Had sergery on lower back in 2008 but. Pain came back in 2010. 4-9-14 mri, 4-10-14 callwd in for results. Results read signal intensity of marrow is abnormal at the t12 vertebral body and posterior elements as well as the sacrum at the 1st,second, and upper thied segments. This may be telated to metastatic disease or other marrow process. Seen neaurologist on 4-11-14 and the doctor stated the tumar waa contained in the t12 vertebrae and scheduled biopsy for 4-14-14. Scared. Please help me understand this!!!
hello and welcome to HCM, The MRI results are showing lesion in the vertebra level T12, S1, S2 and S3. The lesion is suspected to be a malignancy- metastatic. A metastatic lesion implies that a tumor at some distant site has spread to bone (to vertebra). A biopsy of the bone at the level of suspected vertebra with lesion is required. The biopsy is examined microscopically to look for the lesion microscopically. After diagnosis, the management of the lesion can be planned.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja P Wahal
