Can Any Online Doctor Help In Reading HIDA Scan Result?

I had a HIDA scan that showed a estimated gallbladder ejection fraction of 93%. Would this indicate that I have an excessive amount of bile flowing to the small bowel--therefore causing my pain 2-3 hrs after my evening meal and a metallic taste in my mouth.?

Hi and welcome to HCM.
A hepatobiliary (HIDA) scan is an imaging procedure used to diagnose problems in the liver, gallbladder and bile ducts. In the HIDA scan, a radioactive chemical or tracer is injected into a vein in your arm.
Your doctor may use a HIDA scan as part of a test to measure the rate at which bile is released from your gallbladder (gallbladder ejection fraction). gallbladder ejection fraction test may be done to see how much bile leaves the gallbladder when it contracts (squeezes) and empties

Normal gallbladder ejection fraction is between 35 percent and 75 percent. Apparrently EF above 90% - especially in the high 90's is extremely problematic and indicative of a dysfunctional GB according to recent research.

The abdominal pain and metalic taste could be due to the same reason. Your doctor may advice you a sugery where gall bladder will be removed. Your treating doctor is best person to decide and its better you follow his advice

All the best
