Can Antibiotic Be Taken For Gonorrhoea?

Hi Doctor
I had unprotected sex 3 years ago. After that I got panicked and have undergone tests for HIV, Hepatitis, Herpes, Syphilis, Chlamydia (blood test) many times. All have been negative and I am satisfied with the results also.
However, I never got tested for Gonorrhoea. One time the testing facility lost my urine sample which was to be tested for gonorrhoea. And one doctor told me last year that even if I had acquired it, it would have been gone by now.
However recently i am a bit more worried since I am going to be married. I heard that there is an over the counter antibiotic and I just need to take one dose of it. Can I take it?

Hi,
Welcome to HCM.

Gonorrhea is comparatively a more severe disease (unlike Chlamydia) with obvious symptoms like burning and frequency in urination, painful erection and with an obvious purulent and profuse discharge from urethral opening.
Only in female, it can remain asymptomatic.
If you had no symptoms of acute disease or chronic complications since 3 years, Gonorrhea infection is unlikely . You can simply forget this possibility and carry on your normal routine and can get married.
Over the counter Antibiotics would not help you and not necessary for you.
