Can Angiosprin Be Done Following Bypass Surgery?

iAM 78 YRS AGE MALE and had bypass surgery in 2004 .Now again on jan.2012 I had been again given 2 stents in arteries. The 4 arteries which were planted in bypass surgery -are quite clear and functioning ok. Now please suggest if Angioprim could be tried, there was 90 %,80% blockage in 2 arteries and given stent there . In one artery the blockage is 60% nad no stent was put there. pl. suggest if Angiosprin can be taken without any risk. also pl. suggest which pack i.e primary cleaning or Extreme Cleaning/Ultimate cleaning or family pack will do.SSL Jain,E-mail . Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Initially I would not suggest you an angiogrman. Angiogram is an invasive test and require administration of radioactive dye in the body, it can even be fatal in 2% of the cases. Rather I would suggest you to go for a test called stress thallium. A thallium stress test is a nuclear imaging test that shows how well blood flows into the heart while you’re exercising or at rest.

This test is also called a cardiac or nuclear stress test. The thallium stress test can show:

- the size of the heart chambers
- how effectively the heart pumps (ventricular function)
- how well the coronary arteries supply the heart with blood (myocardial perfusion) if the heart muscle is damaged or scarred from previous heart attack

Sensitivity of stress thallium is almost same as angiography, and is far safer then angiogram. If any thing appears wrong in stress thaallium, then you should go for angiogram.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Rini
