Can An Enlarged Thyroid Cause Problems With Walking And Hunching Over?

My mother has diabetes and dementia. On Friday morning, she awoke after having vomited in her bed, but doesn t speak, so it wasn t noticed until my father got up and saw it on her face that he realized what had happened. He noticed also that now her walking was very slow and she s kind of hunched over. The hospital did a bunch of tests, and found only that her blood sugar was extremely high, at 400, and an enlarged thyroid. Can an enlarged thyroid cause problems with walking and hunching over?

Thank you for asking on HCM! I have carefully gone through your query and i am trying to give you some more information.
You mentioned that it was an acute deterioration of your mother's situation. The symptoms that you described may be due to the high glucose level but in these ages a cerebral hemorrhage or ischemia must be excluded.
The enlarged thyroid gland should be accompanied with the measurment of the thyroid hormonal level. If the hormonal level is within the normal ranges, the thyroid is excluded as a cause of your mother's problem. Anyway these are not typical thyroidal symptoms.
Hope the information is useful and i am opened for further information.
