Can An Allergic Reaction To Prednisolone Cause Hives In A Child?

My granddaughter is suffering from hives and associated bruising when these hives begin the fade. She has been seen for treatment of an allergic reaction to something? They are not sure what may have been the trigger. When she takes the Prednisolone she has swelling in her feet and legs, and it seems that the hives are accelerated and cover her entire little body can she be having an allergic reaction to the Prednisolone which could be also causing hives? I have read about a syndrome called Stevens-Johnson Syndrome that can be from medications/inoculations given to children when getting ready for school and these reactions can be mild to severe and show up at any time up to several months later or after the injections have been given. Should we seek out a professional allergy specialist for her.

Hi,
Thank you for asking question on health care magic.
Prednisolone will not cause hives.
SJS syndrome is not caused by prednisolone.
Hydroxygene hydrochloride is the drug of choice for hives given in 2 doses daily.
Local application of calamine lotion may help.
If the patient will not improve within a week you may consult the concerned specialist.
