Can Alcohol Consumption 12 Hours Before Affect Glucose Tolerance Test Results?

Hello, I had a physical done for life insurance and all my results came back great except for my GTT which came in at 158 I stopped eating and drinking wine by 10 PM and my blood work was done the following morning at 10 AM. Were my results affected by my intake 12 ours earlier or is my score a reflection of years of enjoying my wine or beer with food?

Brief:
It Shouldn't

Detailed:

Hello

Thank You for contacting HCM.

Welcome to Health Care Magic.

My name is Dr Muhammad Ahmad & i will look into your problem.

I have gone through your query and would try to help you in the best possible way.

Though Alcohol is a high calorie stuff and usually has high level sugar but still in 12 hours if you actually didn't eat any thing after that it shouldn't have affected your GTT

Suggestion:

Get your GTT done again from some other lab may be private and follow all the textbook guide lines of fasting and everything and see what results they tell you

Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow
up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us.
