Hi. Doctor I used to attend few years ago worried I had slightly high blood pressure. Lost weight, did a full medical a couple of years ago (ECG) etc. and told all was fine, and that I did not need meds as BP in normal range.
Recently I had a stomach upset and attended a different doctor. He checked my blood pressure which was fine but said heart rate was 120. I really stress over going to the doctors though and my heart was beating beforehand...I also had a very tough day at work that day! I have a home monitor, so he said check it later that night. I did so, but was still stressing over it, and it took hours to come down. However, the next day after I calmed down my pulse was back in the 70- 90 range, probably averaging around high 70's /80. It has remained so ever since. I am 44 years old. I phoned the doctor and he seemed happy enough. Do you think acute stress can cause heart rates to rise to approx 120bpm, and is this normal? Many thanks!
