Can A Small Hard Bump On The Roof Of The Mouth Be Due To Smoking?

I woke up this morning to find a small, hard, bump on the roof of my mouth but it does not hurt when I touch it. This is really scaring me because I'm a smoker. I had a cervical MRI done a few years ago and my orthopedic told me that he noticed a lesion around my thyroid area. I had blood work done to see if my hormone level was ok and it was. I am weary of the results and have had other symptoms that could possibly be linked to this lesion. Can someone please tell me the severity of this? I do not have health coverage but if this needs to be checked about this right away, I need to work on a plan now. I am grateful for any sort of help, information, or guidance. Thank you for your time.

I have gone through your query and can understand..

As per your complain a small painless hard bump on the roof of the mouth can be a mucous cyst also known as Mucocele and is formed due to rupture of the duct of the minor salivary gland or clogging of the duct..
In case if it is bony hard and you can feel bone under the mucosa then it can be a palatine torus..
Other cause can be adenoma..
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician ad get evaluated and a clinical evaluation can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly..
As of now you can do concentrated salt water rinses..
Mucocele can shrink with salt water gargles while torus needs surgical removal..
Persisting mucoceles also needs to be removed surgically..
Adenoma can resolve with anti-inflammatory medicines and warm saline gargles..
