Can A Nostril Become Smaller After A Septoplasty?

Hi. Thank you. I need to get information regarding the risks of septoplasty Are you able to advise? A friend had septoplasty. 1-2 weeks after surgery the doctor informed them that their right nostril is now smaller than the left (the problem was with the left nostril not the right initially). Is this normal?

hello. there are many risks of septoplasty including bleeding, infection and cosmetic deformity, but in skilled hands, they are very minimal. it is not normal for the nostril to become smaller after surgery and it maybe due to some fibrosis ( adhesion ) between the walls of the nose , which can easily be treated. thanks
