I am 29 years old and when i was in my early teens i remember i must have yawned or something and my jaw locked. I could no longer open my mouth wide and for a sort time i wasnt able 2 eat properly unless it was cut up into tiny pieces. I am now how ever able to open my mouth 2 eat but things like putting a monster munch crisp in my mouth is a struggle. My jaw feels very tight when i open it or when i yawn and the dentist find it hard to work on my teeth when needed. I can no longer stick my tongue out far like i used to be able to. My jaw dont really crack much anymore but the odd time it will. I really want to find out what is wrong with my jaw and get it fixed but im scared that i may have to have my jaw re-broken and wired shut to fix it
I have thoroughly gone through your query and i don't think that your jaws should be wired shut.
There are certain mouth excercises which ll help open the mouth wider. There are also some oral devices like bite opener, mouth screw, mouth springs, elastics which helps improving mouth opening. I would suggest you to visit an oral surgeons for exact treatment plan.
