Can a kidney transplant patient take birth control pills ?

hi i am a kidney transplant patient and i was considering on taking the day after pill to practice safe sex i was wondering would it effect me and my kidney function in anyway? would it appear in my blood levels? if thats not the proper method to practice safe sex would you help me out and let me know what the best method is. thank you
