Can A Keloid On The Tragus After Piercing Be Treated?
I got my tragus pierced 2 days ago at a tattoo shop. I have had a bad experience with piercings before and have gotten a keloid, but I have piercings another try. I have noticed a straight line of a rash starting from my ear to my jaw since I got my tragus pierced. There are some small bumps, and redness in this straight line of a rash. The piercer told me to clean it with anti-bacterial soap twice a day with warm water. Which I have been doing faithfully so I don t understand this rash. Is my tragus infected? Or is this rash a fluke?
I can understand your concern. It seems that you have developed contact dermatitis due to allergic reaction to the material of the earrings that you have recently wore.
I would recommend you to start with antihistamines. Take Levocetrizine 5 mg (Levocet) or Loratidine 10 mg (Lorfast) once a day for 5 days. If it would be an allergic reaction, it may subside with this medicine and you may need to change the earrings with different materials.
However, if the reaction does not subside, you should visit a physician for the clinical examination of the ear and further treatment regarding bacterial infection.
I hope this information helps. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic, I wish you feel better soon.
Best, Dr. Viraj Shah
