Can Xanax Be Taken For Anxiety While On Lisinopril For High BP?
I am an 82 year old female with high blood pressure for which I take 20mg of Lisinopril daily. I had a moderate heart attack when I was 66 due to PDS. MY issue right now is that I have been waking up twice these last few weeks, nervous and with elevated blood pressure. Fearful of another incident, I have taken a half of a Xanax pill to calm myself down. What do you suggest I can do when this occurs again?

Taken together these medications may cause harmful interaction.
Xanax may have additive effects in lowering your BP when taken along with Lisinopril and this may result in headache, dizziness, light headedness, fainting, and/or changes in pulse or heart rate.
You are advised to consult your treating doctor to prescribe a safer medication for the treatment of anxiety while taking Lisinopril.
