Can Statins Increase Blood Pressure And Cause Palpitations?

hi can you please tell me if statins cause a rise in blood pressure also could they cause palpitations i have high cholesterol i am aware that its important to lower it i have tried crestor lipitor both gave me i believe palpitations ,im now taking simvastatin and have milder symptoms but when i lie down i can hear my heart beat in my left ear .i believe it is related to these drugs.im due to see consultant tomorrow are there any other drugs i can try. i do want my cholesterol lowered due to bad family history of hypertension.

Hi There

I understand your concern and i would like to tell you that although their are no proven studies to prove palpitations caused by statins but many patients do complain and also feel relieved after stopping STATINS.

What i would like to suggest you that is you can Switch to EZETIMIBE as its not a STATIN but also lower cholesterol levels by reducing its absorption in samll intestine. You can meet your treating doctor personally for a written prescription and discussion regarding this.
