Can Safron Be Taken Along With Prozac For OCD And Anxiety Disorder?

i am currently on 60mg's of prozace just starting to wein down from being on 80mg's. ocd is my problem and i have had a sever depression episode in the paqst 15b years. Can i take spphron with my prozac aqnd can i evetually just tkae safron onlt for my ocd and anxiety disorder?? please answer!!!!! i want ot go natrual after 15 yearws on prozac!!!

Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries

Prozac is Fluoxetine and the drug is a SSRI drug and it results in improvement in symptoms by increasing serotonergic neurotransmission. You were on 80 mg daily and now reduced to 60 mg daily. Safron is found to be beneficial in anxiety disorders in a number of studies and as far as I know there is no risk of taking saffron with Fluoxetine. It is safe to take both together.

If you want to go natural by quitting fluoxetine then consult your psychiatrist before that. OCD is a relatively difficult to treat anxiety disorder. Behaviour therapy along with relaxation exercises have equal efficacy as compared to medicines. You can consult a psychologist for help.
