Can Sacroiliitis Be Treated Permanently?

My son 22 yrs is having mild sacroiliitis with HLA B27 positive. One doctor said it is in very early stage and prescribed sulphasalazine twice a day for 15 days thereafter Three times a day for one month with naproxen 500 to take BD. His CRP and ESR is normal. He has been taking medicine for the last 10 days. Two days back I visited another Rheumatologist and after investing his MRI of spine and Sacroiliac both he said your son is quite normal . Stopped all medicines and just one etoshine daily or SOS with vit.D3 and B12 (Both little below normal level). Kindly suggest what should I do.Kailash

Hello,

I have studied your case with diligence.

Your blood test for HLA-B27 is positive.

AS typically involve spine and hips with other large joint also. There is reduced chest function in this disease. Stiffness in spine is increased you have such stiffness in spine?

You may need proper exercises and lifestyle modifications.
In ankylosing spondylitis there is progressive stiffness so you need vigorous daily exercises and physiotherapy.
Epidural steroid injection may help if pain persists.
Tab indocap 25mg is good to relive stiffness and pain of ankylosing spondylitis.
That’s good that your other reports are with in normal limit.

Till time continue medication and physiotherapy.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.
