Can STD Be Contracted Through Oral Intercourse?

Hi, my name is Bree. I had given a man a hand job last night. He had kissed my neck, but he never kissed me and we never had intercourse/oral. My concern is that I have contracted something, as my eyes have become sticky, and I haven t woken up feeling that great. It could be my anxiety, but is it possible to contract STDs from a hand job?

Hi Bree,

I understand your concern, and the short answer is you are unlikely to have contracted anything from a hand job. Intact skin on the hands is unlikely to be favourable for the trasmission of the sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) that you seem to be worried about e.g. gonorrhea or chlamydia.

However, if there is any possibility that his bodily fluids have come into contact with mucosa like the lining of your mouth or genitals (even indirectly like from you putting a finger that has his fluids on it into your own mouth), the risk is there. Do keep in mind that some other STDs like herpes can be spread even via intact skin.

If in any doubt at all, I would advise you to visit your local doctor and get a formal STD test done because sometimes chlamydia infection can be silent and show no symptoms.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Dr. Teh
