Can Rexipra Be Taken While Breastfeeding?

Hi I have a five month baby now . Last month I was disturbed in sleep more than 10 days. My physchatrist preferred me to take rexipra 15. Still some day I can t sleep well. He suggest me to take for six month . Is this drug affect my child while breast feed? When can i stop this medicine? When can I have normal sleep? Kindly help me

hello,
i can understand your concern. Rexipra (escitalopram) gets secreted in breast milk, hence this medication is given only if utmost necessary to the mother.
Post partum depression is relatively commonly seen these. feeling low, depressed ,agitated , lack of sleep are some of the common symptoms.
counselling with a psychologist would be helpful. if it doesnt help,
contnue taking rexipra for another three months and it can be slowly tapered off.
