Can Plan B Contraception Pill Cause Heavy Period?

Hi, I took a Plan B emergency contraception pill one day after my period had ended. The man I had sexual relations didn t finish inside of me, but pulled out and then finished. We were unsure whether any of his ejaculate was actually in me so I took the pill. About 5 days later I got another heavy period for about 4 days. I read online that that is the Plan B Period, meaning that I should get my period normally (as if I d never gotten the Plan B Period ). It s currently that time, if not like two days late. Should I be worried?

Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
What you have done is right by taking emergency contraceptive pill Plan B within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse.
The pill would protect from pregnancy by causing breakthrough bleeding in the form of periods within 3 weeks from the day of its intake.
Hence, you have experienced is proper, as most times it happens by a week of pill intake.
However, sometimes the bleeding might be heavier than your regular periods or may be prolonged by a day or two.
Hope the information provided shall be useful.
