Can Olmesartan-Hydrochlorothiazide Cause Dry Mouth?

I have been taking Olmesartan Hctz since December, I was originally on Benacar. Since I have been taking Olmesartan Hctz I have noticed that my mouth is extremely dry, I have a very dry cough and my blood sugar (I am a diabetic) is through the roof. I have been to a Ear Nose and Throat doctor and she can t find anything wrong other than my sinuses So far some of the issues that I have pointed out can they be side effects of this drug?

Dry mouth and dry cough are side effects of the blood pressure medication that you are taking and dry mouth is one of the common side effect of blood pressure medication..
Also too high blood sugar levels can also cause dry mouth..
So my advise to you is to first of all consult your treating Physician and get evaluated so that he can either titrate the dose of the medicines or can change to other drugs that can probably cause lesser side effects..
If the blood sugar levels are high you should get fasting, post prandial blood sugar levels done and along with it get glycosylated blood sugar percentage checked and accordingly you can be advised oral hypoglycemic drugs..
For dry mouth as of now you can chew sugar free chewing gums, suck lemon drops and use lubricant gels like Oralgel..
