Can Nicotine / Cotinine Detection In Blood Test Hamper Reconstructive Surgery?

I am scheduled for reconstructive surgery on 8/5/14. I ve tried to quit smoking, but still continue to smoke. I ve cut down however from a pack a day to about 6 or 8 a day. So far...the best I can do. I don t think my doctor will test me for nicotine or cotinine, but if so....do I have time to rid these chemicals from my body? My pre-op appointment is on 7/24.

wow, this question came up very late.
Cotinin has a half life of 12-20 hrs. 1 cigarette likely to be detectable for about 1 day. 2 cigs 2 days, 4 cigs 3 days, 8 cigs 4 days... yeah.. it's probably out of your system. but they do reconstructive surgery on smokers.... or they wouldn't be albe to do enough surgery to pay the bills !!!!
