I have been taking metformin for about 3 weeks, one in the a.m. and one after supper....but I have extreme diarrhea sometimes...then a few days will pass and I am fine...or I might go about 7 times a day...sometimes having to run to bathroom...stomach makes lots of noices....and it has been ruff, trying to go to meetings and working like I do....what are your thoughts....should I cut down on med....my A1c is at 6.8 now...came down from 7.4...Thanks...ct
Hi, I had gone through your query and understood your concerns.
Dear Mam/Sir, METFORMIN results in side effects like nausea, vomitingdiarrhoea etc. Keep taking it as gradually diarrhoea would settle. Dont let yourself dehydrate.Keep taking fluids. If that happens even after 30 days of taking metformin, then you need either to reduce or change the drug with other anti-diabetic drugs.
Hope this guides you. Wishing you good health. Dr Phanindra Dulipala. Diabetologist.
