Can Meftal Spas Be Taken During Periods?

Hello! Sir/Mam, I had a querry related the medicine MEFTAL - SPAS , 250gm . Is this medicine has any side effect if taken during mensturation/periods?? I am taking this medicine during my periods [all days ie. 6 days (max.) ] max. 2 tabs. if necessary or i can say in extreme pain between a time interval of 6 hrs. At least ie. Morning & night or evening. So will it show any side effect in my body in future?? Thankyou!! Kindly, Please tell my soultion.

hello,
i can understand your concern.
meftal spas contains mefenemic acid and dicyclomine. this is routinely prescribed for reducing the spastic pain during the periods.
the most common side effects of nsaids like mefenemic acid are gastritis, peptic ulcers,gastric bleeding if taken regularly.
can also lead to kidney failure on long run
taking 12 to 15 tabs every month is not advisable.
if the pain is very severe and unbearable you can take it.
kindly consult a gynecologist for further evaluation of dysmenorrhea.
